The one and the only legendary Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 is the grandaddy of all desert races and is the flagship event of the SCORE Desert Series. Adventurers from across the globe converge on Baja California for this incredible adventure and once-in-a-lifetime experience since it began in 1967.  Averaging over 300 starters each year from 40 U.S. states and 20 counttries, over 200 news media from around the world also attend the ultimate desert race. Starting in Ensenada running through a two-mile long wash right after the start with over 50,000 spectators just on this part of the course alone (the event draws nearly 300,000 total spectators annually), the course is a peninsula run every two or three years to La Paz in Baja California Sur and finishes in Ensenada as well the other years. It is televised each year on a delayed basis on NBC TV in the U.S. as well as ESPN International around the world. In 2009, the race will be a large, single loop, starting and finishing in Ensenada.
