TIM SMITH     Printed: March 10, 2010

In which series are you currently racing as a member of Team Toyo:
SCCA National Solo Series and SCCA National ProSolo Series

Current Race Vehicle:
A 1989 Honda Civic SI, ST class

Birthday:
May 14

Hometown:
Tucker, GA (Atlanta)

When and how did you get into racing?
A neighbor of mine participated in Solo2 and thought that I might like it, so he told me about it. He took me to a novice school and I have been hooked ever since. The funny part is that my neighbor hasn’t raced since before I started and that was nearly ten years ago.

Most memorable moment in your career:
Some people might think it was winning the National Championship in 2008, but it was actually finishing as the overall winner at the 2008 DoubleCross ProSolo in Atlanta in May of 2008. It was a very exciting event and everything had to go right for me to win.

If you could have anyone as your co-driver for just one race, who would you pick and why?
This is a tough question. I think most people would name a very well-known, very accomplished driver. I am going to be a lot more vague, and say ANY well-known and accomplished driver. There are so many drivers out there that are at the top of their game. Picking one would be difficult. Driving with a top driver from another type of racing would let me see how well they could adapt to a form of racing they are probably not used to and would also allow them to see that autocross is far more than driving around cones. It is not easy to do at the absolute limit.

Person Most Admired in your life:
I’ve never really been able to answer this question at any point in my life. If I had to make a choice at all, I would have to say my wife and daughter. They are just awesome people in every way. They also autocross with me.

Hobbies Outside of Racing:
Honestly, there is work, family, and autocross, and not always in that order. Favorite Daily Driver:
Currently, my wife’s E46 BMW M3.

Web site:
No personal website, but , SCCAForums.com and RoadRaceautox.com are the hangouts of the best autocrossers in the country.
