I think I speak for all of Team HUMMER when I say, I can't believe it's over. It seems like just yesterday I was getting on the plane in Los Angeles, bound for Argentina.

Of course the rally didn't go as we had hoped this year but then again, that's off-road racing for you - it's unpredictable. It's what makes it exciting, but it can also make it heartbreaking.

Rest day

Rest day is normally a team's day off when they can catch up with sleep, rest and enjoy the day. For Robby's team it was the opposite. The team worked on hummer 327 all day giving it a complete overhaul from the motor to the body panels. By the end of the night, the hummer looked just like new. We also had the president of Chile visiting us today to meet Robby.

Stage 6 - 7

January 9, 2011 - 5:04am -

Robby Gordon has officially been disqualified. Robby will continue to follow the rally in support for Hummer 327 driven by Eliseo Salazar and American co-driver Steve La Rosa. The team is still in the game with Hummer 327 finishing Stage 6 in 34th place and first place in the open 1 category.

As for hummer 303, it will continue the rally for exhibit for the fans.

We tried every angle to stay in the race but unfortunately race officials did not allow it. We went as far as just racing the rally for exhibition only, not competing. It wasn't approved.

I am sad to report the disqualification of Robby Gordon No. 303 Speed/Toyo Tires Hummer. The disqualification is very hard for the team knowing the following stages were in the hummer's favor.

Stage 3

Yesterday's unfamiliar terrain and mechanical issues resulted in a poor finish in Stage 2, but Robby Gordon and navigator, Kellon Welch, made up valuable time in Stage 3, starting the day in the 21st position overall.

Stage two of the Dakar Rally was new territory for competitors. The course went from Cordoba to San Miguel de Tucuman instead of La Rioja.

Stage 1

January 3, 2011 - 4:30pm -

Our day started at 6:00 am on Jan. 2nd. We had a seven hour drive ahead of us to Cordova, a total of 556km and a special that began at the 222km/marker. The hummers were ready for the race. Robby started at 6:49am and the second Hummer began at 7:45 am. The team worked all night on the hummers making sure everything was on point. For some of us it seemed like we didn't sleep at all. Kyle and Kevin only had one hour of sleep and I had a good three hours. Since I had the most rest I would be piloting the media truck. Our drive was smooth until the 300km where we encountered some rain.

When a team prepares for the 2011 Dakar Rally one of the last objectives on their checklists is Scrutineering. When traveling with a team of people and vehicles, organization and time management are key to check scrutineering off their lists. When it comes to Robby Gordon and Team Hummer for 2011 at scruitneering they are more prepared than they have ever been before. Depending on your time scheduled to start scruitneering it can turn into a long day.
