This DOT drag radial* was designed to help muscle cars and street machines transfer power to the ground. An optimized tread design coupled with a unique tread compound, and strengthened radial construction give superior grip, straight-line performance, and high-speed stability as you blast down the track, while keeping the ride quiet on the drive home.

Q. How does the Proxes TQ differ from the Proxes Drag Racing Slick?

A. The Proxes TQ may be used legally on public roads. It has a tread pattern designed to work on both the street and at the drag strip, and utilizes a radial construction. The Proxes Drag Slick on the other hand, is NOT street legal, does not have any tread grooves and is of bias-ply construction.

Q. What does the "LL" in the size designation mean?

A. "LL" stands for Light Load (LL). Information about LL tires can be found by clicking here.

Q. Will performance be affected if I mount the Proxes TQ with the outside sidewall facing in?

A. The Proxes TQ's asymmetric tread pattern was designed to increase the contact patch on the inside shoulder area for vehicles with independent rear suspension. Therefore, mounting the Proxes TQ with the outside sidewall facing inward may decrease performance.

Q. What is the recommended inflation pressure for the track for the Proxes TQ?

A. Start with a cold tire inflation pressure of 17 psi. Adjust the tire inflation pressure up or down in one PSI increments to achieve the desired results. Use as much pressure as possible for track conditions without causing the tire to slip. Higher inflation pressures will improve reaction time, stability, and rolling resistance.

Q. What is the minimum inflation pressure that I can use on the Proxes TQ on the drag strip?

A. When using the Proxes TQ on the drag strip, always inflate to at least 15 psi. Always remember to re-inflate the tires to the recommended street inflation pressure before leaving the track. Consult your dealer or contact Toyo's consumer relations group for recommendations on inflation pressures for the street.

Q. Should I use bead screws with the Proxes TQ?

A. Never use screws to secure the tire to the rim.

Q. How long should I do a burn out?

A. As a general guideline, if you have experience racing on drag radial tires, we recommend that you not change your burn-out procedure. However, for the very first run, we recommend a burn-out that is slightly longer than normal. Generally, on a cold track in colder ambient temperatures, we recommend a longer burnout, and conversely, a shorter burn-out under warmer conditions. Beware that long burnouts may overheat the compound and shorten the usage life of the tire.

Q. Can I use the bias, non-radial Proxes Free Rolling Drag Tire on the front steer axle and the radial Proxes TQ on the rear?

A. Any combination that includes the Proxes Free Rolling Drag Tire can only be used on the track. The Proxes Free Rolling Drag Tire was not designed in conformance with Federal requirements for street tires, and therefore is NOT street-legal.

Q. Can I use the Proxes TQ for other forms of motorsports competition?

A. The Proxes TQ is designed for drag racing only and should not be used for other forms of competition.

Q. Can I apply extra traction/tread softening chemicals to the Proxes TQ?

A. NEVER APPLY ANY TYPE OF CHEMICAL TO THE PROXES TQ. Tread softening or any other type of chemical applied to the Proxes TQ may affect its integrity.

Never use Proxes TQs, or any tires, on the street if they are worn down to the wear indicator bars, i.e., the available tread depth is no more than 2/32nds of an inch. USE EXTREME CAUTION AND REDUCED SPEEDS WHEN DRIVING WITH THE PROXES TQ IN WET CONDITIONS.
